Kitchens are one of the most-used spaces in the home, so when they aren’t organized in a way that works for you, you tend to notice it every single day.
Our client had recently moved into her new home in Baton Rouge and wanted help getting her kitchen and pantry fully organized. After living in the home for a few months, many things had simply been put wherever they fit, and she was ready to get everything organized in a way that made more sense for her.
She reached out to our team for help decluttering and organizing her entire kitchen and pantry.
Over two organizing sessions, we helped her declutter and organize the kitchen, completely organize the pantry, and even get started on her closet with the time we had remaining.

What Did Our Client Need Help With?
Before we start organizing, we always want to understand what our client wants to get out of the project.
For this project, our client wanted help going through her kitchen, deciding what she no longer needed, and creating a better system for everything she wanted to keep.
She also wanted us to organize her pantry so food and other pantry items were easier to see and access.
Once we understood what she wanted help with, we could start working through the kitchen one area at a time.
We Started by Decluttering the Kitchen
Our organizer brought boxes and trash bags and worked alongside our client to help her declutter and go through the items in her kitchen.
Together, they decided what she wanted to keep, what to donate, and what to throw away.
We always recommend doing this before organizing if you know you have a lot of things you no longer use. There’s not much benefit in beautifully organizing a cabinet full of things you don’t actually want.
We can also take donations with us to local donation centers in Baton Rouge after the session, which makes it easier for our clients to get those items out of the house instead of having donation boxes sitting around afterward.
How We Organized Her Kitchen
Once the decluttering was finished, our team member, started the organizing process, organizing one kitchen cabinet and drawer at a time.
She took the items out, wiped down the inside of the cabinets and drawers, and then organized everything that was staying.
The goal wasn’t just to make everything look neat. We wanted the kitchen to make sense for how our client actually uses it.
Items she used regularly needed to be easy to reach, similar items needed to be kept together, and everything needed its own place.
After the cabinets and drawers were finished, our organizer worked on the countertops. We put away items that didn’t need to stay out and gave them a home, making the countertops feel much more open and clutter-free.
Before: Our Client’s Kitchen

Before we started, our client’s kitchen wasn’t necessarily extremely cluttered. The bigger issue was that she had recently moved and hadn’t had the time to figure out where everything should go, so many items were still sitting out on the countertops. She had also run out of storage space because there were items in the cabinets and drawers that she no longer needed or used.
That’s something we see often after a move. You get everything out of the boxes because you need your kitchen back, but that doesn’t necessarily mean everything ends up in the best place. Taking the time to declutter first gave us more room to organize the items she actually wanted to keep.
After: Organized Kitchen Cabinets & Drawers
By the end of the project, the cabinets and drawers had been decluttered and organized so our client could more easily find what she needed.
We grouped similar items together and used the available cabinet and drawer space based on how she actually uses her kitchen.

How We Organized Her Pantry
We organized the pantry during a second organizing session.
Our organizer removed everything from the pantry and, at our client’s request, checked expiration dates. This is always optional, but in this case, our client discovered quite a bit of expired food that she was happy to get rid of.
Once everything was out, our organizer swept the pantry and wiped down the shelves before beginning the organizing process.
She then sorted the remaining food and pantry items into categories.
Our client had already purchased bins and organizers she wanted to use, so we incorporated those into the pantry and grouped similar items together. We put everything back in a way that was neat, organized, and easier for her to find.
Pantry Before & After

A Kitchen That Finally Worked for Her
By the end of the project, everything in our client’s kitchen and pantry had a place.
More importantly, the space made sense for her.
That’s always our goal with our kitchen organizing services. We want your kitchen to look better and feel less cluttered, but we also want it to function better when you’re cooking, putting away groceries, packing lunches, or simply trying to find something.

How Involved Did Our Client Need to Be?
One thing our clients often ask is whether they need to be home and involved throughout the entire organizing project.
For this kitchen, we really only needed our client while we were decluttering. Since we can’t decide what someone wants to keep, donate, or throw away, our organizer worked alongside her during that part of the project.
Once those decisions were made, our client could step away and let us take care of everything else.
Our organizer handled the rest of the kitchen and pantry organization, including emptying cabinets and drawers, wiping them down, sorting and categorizing items, deciding where things should go, organizing the countertops, and putting everything back together.
That’s how most of our projects work. If we’re helping you declutter, we’ll need you for the decision-making portion. After that, you don’t need to spend the entire day organizing alongside us. Our team can take it from there and handle the rest.
Did Our Client Need to Buy Organizing Products?
Organizing products are always optional and are an additional cost. Some of our clients love using drawer dividers, bins, baskets, turntables, and other organizing products in their kitchens and pantries, while others would rather organize with what they already have.
We can organize your kitchen either way.
Sometimes the right products can make a big difference and help you use your space better. Other times, they’re simply not needed. Certain bins and organizers can even take up more space than they save, especially in smaller cabinets, drawers, and pantries.
Once we take a look at your kitchen and what you need help with, we’re happy to recommend products if we think they would actually benefit the space. Ultimately, though, it’s completely up to you whether you want to spend the additional money.
How Long Did This Kitchen Organizing Project Take?
For this project, our client booked two five-hour organizing sessions, which we scheduled over two separate days.
The first session focused on decluttering and organizing the kitchen. Our organizer worked alongside our client to go through her cabinets, drawers, and other areas so she could decide what she wanted to keep, donate, or throw away. Once those decisions were made, our organizer handled organizing everything that was staying.
For the second session, our organizer focused on the pantry. She removed everything, checked expiration dates at our client’s request, cleaned the shelves, categorized the remaining items, and organized everything using the products our client already had.
We actually finished the kitchen and pantry before the full five hours of the second session were up. Since our client still had time remaining in her session, she asked if we could help with another area of her home. Our organizer used the rest of the time to start working on her closet.
That’s another benefit of booking an organizing session with us. If we finish your original project sooner than expected, we can use the remaining time to help you tackle another area of your home.
How Much Did this Kitchen Organization Project Cost?
Our client purchased two one-organizer sessions, with each session lasting up to five hours. Each session was $825, bringing the total cost of this project to $1,650.
Within that time, we were able to help her declutter, clean out, and organize her entire kitchen, declutter and organize her entire pantry, and even get started on organizing her large walk-in closet with the time we had left during the second session.
When you book a session with us, we help you get as much done as we can within your scheduled time. Learn more about the cost of our kitchen organization services.
